Droppers and Wolf knots
Two knot tying one must know to build or repair a leader.

Wolf knot  :   With 2 overhand knots with 3 or 4 wraps, this knot is easy to make.  It keeps between 80 and 85% of breaking strength.  To be used when you want to join 2 lines quickly.

Lubricate, tighten slightly knots A and B,  draw on the 2 Standing Lines to put  knots A and B in contact, tighten these 2 knots and then pull firmly on the 2 Standing Lines.

Put the 2 lines to tie side by side, with a line , make a 3 to 4 wraps overhand knot A around the other line,  repeat on other side with knot B.

Lubricate, tighten slightly knots A and B,  draw on the 2 Standing Lines to put  knots A and B in contact, tighten these 2 knots and then pull firmly on the 2 Standing Lines.

And to get a smaller knot, you could use two Davy knots.

Droppers knots : To fish with 2 or 3 flies, the droppers can be made by keeping one of the Tag End of the barrel or surgeon knot, but when they becomes a bit short, instead of retying the all leader, one can tie a new dropper , two ways to tie them:

Dropper N°1: For a knotted leader:

Take a 25-30cm piece of line, position it above the leader knot, at about  the third of its length, hold the tag end BL1 against the leader and with the other end BL2, make 4 turns around the leader while moving away from the knot.  Pass the tag end BL1 through the last loop B, then, (without passing through the middle loops), go through the first loop A.

.

Lubricate and draw slowly on the two tags (BL1 and BL2),  make sure the wraps don't overlap, and slightly tighten this knot around the leader.

Lubricate again and slide the dropper against the leader knot and tighten, trim the BL2.  The dropper is strong (95% of the breaking strength) and is at a right angle to the leader.

Dropper N°2:   To make a dropper on a tapered leader , you must create a loop.
For the dropper,  take 0-25cm nylon and at an end make an overhand stop knot with 2 wraps, tighten it, trim the end.

On the leader, at the place where you want to put the dropper,  make an overhand  knot A with 2 wraps. Open one of the wrap to create loop B.

Put  the dropper through loop B.

Lubricate and lightly tighten  knot A on the dropper.

Pull on the dropper to put the stop knot in contact with A, then tighten A.

The knot is well balanced and retains 90% of the breaking strength
